Chat with characters to identify an infiltrator is the sixth and last of the legendary missions of Week 8 in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7.
Like many of the past weeks, the first mission in this set involves using one of the payphones found on the Fortnite map, and is followed by the tasks of collecting a key card from an IO guard, placing wiretaps At different key locations, interact with an IO operative’s computer and mind-wipe Bunker Jonesy, Swamp Stalker or Human Bill.
Completing this challenge will reward you with 30k XP, which will help you unlock more Battle Stars for the Season 7 Battle Pass.
Please note that this particular challenge can no longer be completed. What’s new? Chapter 4 Season 2 has arrived! How to chat with characters and identify an infiltrator in Fortnite explained
This may seem like a strange quest from the beginning, but it’s much simpler than the premise suggests.
The task is to talk to five different NPCs on the Battle Royale map. One of them will have a strange conversation message, as well as looking “failed.” That’s the infiltrator you need for this challenge.
You can find the character locations below at a glance:
If you’ve been on a hunt to find all the NPCs for the character collection, then all of these locations will ring a bell. If you haven’t, you can find a list of all eligible characters below:
- Summary: Retail Row (H;6)
- Human Bill: Smoldering Batteries (H;2)
- Sunny: Believer’s Beach (B;3)
- Bunker Jonesy: southwest of Misty Meadows (E;8)
- Bushranger: Risky Reels (E;4)
- Dreamflower: Pond Flopper (C;5)
- Hay Seeds: Steel Farm (G;3)
- Marigold: Lazy Lake (F;6)
- Maven: Small plate (F;2)
- Rick Sanchez: Challenging dish (E;6)
- Tower: Dock Plate (G;4)
- Special Forces: *Redacted* – South of Catty Corner (G;7)
- Swamp Stalker: South of Slurpy Swamp (C;7)
Now comes the fun part. The infiltrator is always random, so there is no specific character to chase. Instead, you’ll have to talk to them at random until one of them gives you a different conversation message.
Based on our experience, we first went to talk to Hayseed at Steel Farm and he turned out to be the infiltrator. The dialogue will make it very obvious by highlighting certain phrases in red, but if the character themselves already looks flawed, then that’s the one.
All you have to do is continue passing the dialogue prompts until the conversation ends. This will trigger the ‘Reveal Infiltrator’ message in the same dialogue wheel.
For us, doing this skipped the five quest steps entirely and then completed itself. The same thing may happen to you, but as we mentioned, all you have to do is talk to some characters and he will appear randomly sooner rather than later. Just watch out for a fight against an intruder that will take place afterwards!
