- Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born in Hayward, California, the son of Ata Johnson and Rocky Johnson, a former professional wrestler.
- Johnson is of mixed ethnicity, African-American and Irish on his father’s side and Samoan on his mother’s side.
- He lived briefly in Auckland, New Zealand, while growing up and playing rugby.
