How to unlock The Dark Castle in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To unlock The Dark Castle quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must complete The Forgotten Relics quest. To unlock The Forgotten Relics, you must first find the Fairy Godmother in Miracles Take Time, complete Forgotten Memories and What’s Left Behind (which unlock after Miracles Take Time), then wait 24 hours.

After a full day, the Forgotten Hallows quest will appear in your ‘Story Quests’ log, and once you locate all the Hallows and get related characters to share their memories, you will automatically unlock The Dark Castle.

If you haven’t started The Forgotten Relics yet, it’s worth completing the level 10 friendship quests for Mickey Mouse, Scar, Moana, and Elsa first, as you can’t complete The Forgotten Relics without doing these friendship quests.

Once The Dark Castle is unlocked for you, go talk to Merlin, who will then take you to the well in the Plaza and open a portal with the Hallows to the Dark Castle, where The Forgotten resides.

Step through the portal to begin your final journey in the story of The Forgotten!

How to get through the first door in Disney Dreamlight Valley Dark Castle

Once you cross the portal and enter the Dark Castle, you are stopped by the first door that thinks your appearance is not up to par. To pass the first door of the Dark Castle you must equip a crown and wings.

If you already have a crown and a pair of wings, you can simply open your inventory, go to ‘Wardrobe’ and click on the current quest at the top where you can quickly equip your costume. However, you may want to explore even if you already have these items, as there are souvenirs to collect on the floor of this first area.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a crown and wings yet! There are some cardboard versions of The Forgotten’s signature look on either side of the room inside two closets. Simply clear the Night Thorns to access the wardrobes, then open the bags you get from searching the wardrobes and equip items from your own ‘Wardrobe’ inventory.

Once you have a crown and wings equipped, talk to the door again, who will now allow you to enter the next room, which contains another door puzzle.

How to get past the second gate in Disney Dreamlight Valley Dark Castle

Once you take out some Night Thorns and go up the stairs, Doorine, the second door, blocks you. If you read the note next to the fire stove, you can find the solution to beat Doorine on your own, but we’ve detailed it below for those in a hurry.

To pass the second door in the Dark Castle, you must give him a Nightthorn Sprout Salad. The recipe to make Evening Thorn Shoot Salad at Disney Dreamlight Valley is:

  • x1 Dark Castle Lettuce
  • x1 Thorn Sprout
  • x1 Dreamlight Salt

These special ingredients are located on a table near the pot on the fire. Pick them up and throw them in the pot to make your evening thorn sprout salad. There is no need to worry about charcoal, as there is no need to prepare a meal during The Dark Castle quest.

All you have to do now is go back to Doorine and give her the delicious Night Thorn Sprout Salad you just made. The door will turn blue as long as you’ve given it the correct food, and you can go through the door and start the third puzzle.

The Disney Dreamlight Valley DreamSnaps update is here! You can unlock Vanellope, the mischievous racer from Wreck-It Ralph, and join her on missions like Extreme Biome Makeover and Ready Player Fun for the ultimate sugar fix! The Fairy Godmother is in the valley and you can continue the story through the Forgotten Memories quest. Now you can also have multiplayer houses and customize furniture. If you’re still catching up on the story, be sure to complete The Great Blizzard quest to unlock Olaf, as well as take Simba and Nala to the valley. For more help, check out our list of recipes, how to upgrade your house, change the color of your house, favorite critter foods, and redemption codes. Finally, don’t forget to check out our list of current and upcoming characters to see who might visit the valley next!

How to get past the third gate in Disney Dreamlight Valley Dark Castle

Clear Night Thorns to go up the next flight of stairs and find the third door, or rather, where the third door is supposed to be. The Forgotten Ones have made the door disappear and to make it reappear you must find out what they mean by the “mechanical eye” mentioned in the letter next to where the door should be.

It turns out that the mechanical eye is a camera, so to get past the third door in The Dark Castle in Disney Dreamlight Valley you need to take a picture of where the door should be. This is the blank area underneath all the bright green graffiti on the walls.

Once you take a photo of the correct area, the third door will appear and you can go through to begin the final door puzzle in Dark Castle.

How to get past the fourth gate in Disney Dreamlight Valley Dark Castle

One last time, clear Night Thorns in the next area until you reach the fourth and final door of the Dark Castle, which is blocked by a huge lock. To pass the fourth gate of the Dark Castle, you must use your pickaxe on the breakable ice to get torches. You will then need to place the four torches on the small pedestals surrounding the well in the middle to fish out the key.

Torch Locations

The first torch is actually not in the ice and is easy to spot as it is on the ground under the closed door.

The second torch is on a small piece of ice near a stack of books next to the closed door.

The third torch is on a large chunk of ice on the edge of the balcony near the blocked stairs.

The last torch is on a large chunk of ice on the edge of the balcony, near many other ice structures that you can’t break, next to a large chunk of rubble on the ground.

Torch Puzzle Solution

Once you’ve collected all four torches, it’s time to place them on the correct pedestals. This puzzle is actually easier than it looks, as you can’t place a torch on the wrong pedestal, so you’ll know right away without having to find the solution properly.

If for some reason this doesn’t work for you, here’s exactly where to place each torch in the Dark Castle:

  • Night Torch: Pedestal closest to the closed door.
  • Dusk Torch: Pedestal closest to the stacks of books.
  • Midday Torch: Pedestal closest to the edge of the balcony.
  • Torch of Dawn: Pedestal closest to the large piece of rubble on the ground.

You can also solve this by looking at the symbols inside the well under the giant key. This is what the torches look like when placed correctly:

Once you’ve successfully solved the torch puzzle, the well will fill with water, so equip your fishing rod to fish the key at the golden bubble location, then use the key on the locked door.

That’s all The Dark Castle quest puzzles completed! Now you can face Los Olvidados and begin the next mission, Los Remembered.

Since it’s such a short quest, we’ve included a short walkthrough for The Remembered below instead of creating a new page.

Disney Dreamlight Valley The Remembered Tour

After a magical confrontation with The Forgotten, you are both transported to a strange dream location that contains memories of your childhood.

Walk towards the light where the Forgotten One is to begin this journey into the past, then press the “Focus Magic” message when it appears above the sandbox.

After another chat with The Forgotten, turn right and head towards the bed in the distance and talk to The Forgotten again. This time you should focus your magic on the bed after the conversation, but it can be a little tricky. The best position to focus your magic is at the foot of the bed near The Forgotten. You may have to move them away and get very close to the bed for the message to appear like the image below.

It’s time to talk to The Forgotten once again, and when you’re done, approach the desk under the light in the distance and strike up a conversation with your purple friend again. Then, focus your magic on the desktop to reveal more childhood items.

One last time, follow the light to The Forgotten, which this time is next to a bookshelf. Talk to them about it and then focus your magic on the bookshelf.

All that talk was worth it, as The Forgotten will now help you stop the whole plan they had to end the universe – phew! You’ll have a good chance to take a screenshot with all your villagers before the credits roll, and after the credits there’s a little teaser of a new villain and a possible new biome for the valley…

Talk to The Forgotten in the Plaza to obtain the Orb of Remembrance as part of the Odds and Ends small quest, then place the orb on the Pillar located on the northwest side of The Forgotten Lands area, next to a pond.

After placing the Orb, talk to Merlin to finally finish this quest line.

I hope you enjoyed the story of The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley!
