Destiny 2 Xenophage quest: How to complete The Journey and Pathfinder puzzle steps

Destiny 2 Xenophage quest: How to complete The Journey and Pathfinder puzzle steps

Once the above steps have been completed, Xenophage will be all yours.

How to start the Xenophage quest in Destiny 2

To begin the Xenophage quest, head to Shadowkeep’s Moon destination. You’ll want to head to the area next to the Pyramid, except the Eris portal isn’t there to take you there, so you’ll have to get there on foot.

To do this, head to the Sorrow’s Harbor area, then head north through the keep doors.

There is a path to the left at the end of this area: take it.

Continue along it until you reach the Enduring Abyss area.

Now go a little further down the hallway, until you see a kind of lantern on the floor.

A little further on, and up and right on the wall, there is a path you can take. Jump up and grab it.

Continue and you will reach the area the portal will take you to.

Now, to begin the Xenophage quest, locate the four statues on the sides: two on the left and two on the right.

You can now interact with them with the “Emerge from the Darkness” message, lighting it up. The goal is to illuminate all four.

Although it could be random, we interact with them counterclockwise, closest to the right first, then furthest to the right, then furthest to the left, then closest to the left.

Whether it works for you or not, continue interacting with them until all four of them light up. Doing so will bring up a message that says “You have emerged from the darkness: claim your path!” It appears on the screen and makes a chest appear.

Open the chest to receive the start of Xenophage’s quest, The Journey, the first step of which is called Emergency.

How to complete the journey spawn step in Destiny 2

Head to the Light Anchor on the Moon, then head northwest where you’ll find some yellow buildings, including one with a large radio tower:

Directly south is a smaller one with a door in front of it:

Inside, you will find the following orb location:

You must immerse this in six locations in the surrounding area, one after another. You have one minute between each dunk before the orb disappears. We recommend scouting locations beforehand, so you know exactly where to go. You should have plenty of time if you know where you’re going first!

The locations are as follows:

1. In the same room where you collect the orb:

2. Exit this building and head north, following the path to the more open area, where the orange building is in the distance. On the hill directly to the left, you will see a large fallen radio tower leaning against the hill. Below where it tilts is the next drop point for the orb.

3. Look south to look at the large saucer-shaped building in the middle of the area. In front of that, on the ground, is a small yellow building. The next location is inside.

4. Return to the northwest part of Anchor of Light, where the large radio tower is. You need to climb the tower (approach from the south/facing the building where you found the orb) and when you go up a level, it will be on the north side, on the outer edge.

5. Look north to see more yellow buildings on the ground. There is a ramp that goes up to the one on the right. At the top is the next location.

6. Go back to the other area where the giant saucer building is, and the location is right above.

Now, to finish, you must return one last time to the radio tower. There will be a waypoint on your screen at the edge of a raised path when you approach it.

Activating this will give you the Pathfinder quest step.

How to Solve the Four Pathfinder Path Fragment Puzzles

Next, you must visit the four lost sectors of Moon K1 and solve a puzzle. These appear at the end, so complete the Lost Sector as usual, then find the puzzle while taking the route leading out.

To solve it, shooting a panel will change the ones around it, and you must continue until they all match the separate icon above the grid.

There are several ways to do this, but these should work for you (thanks to Sipder on reddit for helping with some of the following solutions):

K1 Communion (Anchor of Light)

  1. Down left
  2. Bottom right
  3. Top Center
  4. Top Center

K1 Logistics (Archer Line)

  2. Down left
  3. Center right

It also works to swap the last two rounds (Center and then Center Right).

K1 Crew Quarters (Hellmouth) Puzzle Solution

If you make a mistake when entering, you can try to find the solution yourself from where you left off. That said, these are difficult puzzles, so it might be easier to rerun the Lost Sector to reset the puzzle and try again.

Complete each one, giving yourself a path fragment each time, to then receive the Descent quest, with the “Path Discovered” step.

Where to find the Descent Pass ‘Discovered Path’ and ‘End of the Road’ in the Xenophage quest

With that done, it’s time to take a trip to the Year 3 dungeon, Pit of Heresy. If you haven’t already, you must first unlock it before you can start exploring.

First, you need to find a hidden switch. Complete the first encounter to reach an area with a wall of gates on either side of a path. You have to travel to a top left door that is different from the others, where you will find the switch inside.

Here is Fuzzy Bearbarian on YouTube showing the location of the ‘Discovered Path’:

Once you’ve done the ‘Discovered Path’ step, continue through the Pit of Heresy until you reach the second encounter, then travel down the left side to reach a giant cavern on your left, glowing green with a giant ribcage underneath.

Continue along the edge of this path, along the lower path, to find a plaque. Activating it reveals platforms to the side, with an orb you can collect it.

We return to the path we came from until we find a route on our right. There is a door here that you can dip the orb into. This will take you to a hidden room with a secret boss.

Here are WoW Quests on YouTube to show you where you need to go:

The Season of the Depths is here along with the Into the Depths quest. You can also know how to go fishing! Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King’s Fall challenge rotation schedule!

How to defeat Volar, the tempted one to finish Xenophage’s mission

To defeat Volmar, The Tempted, you must grab orbs and immerse them in locations related to the buff they have given you.

It’s worth exploring the room first to find their locations, but it’s easy to determine where each one goes, as there’s an elemental effect tied to the buff: Thunderous is Arc, Abyss is Void, Fiery is Solar, and Neutral is Kinetic (which is the only immersion point without real effect).

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to damage the boss. The buff you have also relates to the damage you can deal at this point.

Repeat this until the boss is done. Here’s Esoterickk with how the boss goes down (done as a solo encounter):

Once the boss is complete, visit Eris to receive the Xenophage Exotic. You don’t need to complete Pit of Heresy, so if you get stuck here, the good news is that at least you’ve done everything you need to for this quest!
