Destiny 2’s The Dawning sees the return of the game’s annual Christmas event.
As in previous years, it focuses on baked cookie recipes, each of which requires ingredients before they can be cooked, all of which are generated by killing different things with specific methods.
Creating different recipes is part of several quest lines, including the Cookie Delivery Helper quest, which can help you upgrade your oven.
Please note that The Dawning takes place between December 13, 2022 and January 3, 2023, beginning and ending at the usual weekly reset schedule.

To make the above Holiday Oven recipes, you need to get Dawning Ingredients. These are removed by performing different types of kills.

You will then need to obtain a third ingredient, 15 Essence of Dawn, to craft the recipe.

Everything you need to know about Destiny’s The Dawning event
All of the tables above are pretty much everything you need to know about this year’s event. However, here is some additional information that might help:
- The main goal in 2022 (besides spreading Christmas cheer) is to complete the Cookie Delivery Helper quest and check off the objectives on the Sunrise Event Card.
- A secondary goal is that when you bake one of each recipe, the Dawning Oven will be perfected, making baking future recipes cheaper.
- It’s worth equipping the Dawning ship, the Starfarer 7M, to get additional Dawning Spirit during the event. If you played the last few years, you probably already have it; otherwise, go to the third page of Eva’s list to get one. Don’t forget to update it!
- There are some recipes and cookies for vendors that aren’t always present in the game, like Xur, so mastering and getting all the Triumphs will require a bit of patience.
- As before, Burnt Edge Transit is the cookie you get when you combine the “wrong” ingredients. If it’s like previous years, you should do this. before You complete each recipe, since when you master the oven, you cannot make a Burnt Edge Transit.
Booker, catch!
- As with every seasonal event, there are a number of limited-time triumphs that can be unlocked before it concludes. The vast majority of these involve creating one of each type of recipe and delivering it to the respective supplier.
- Essence of Dawning drops into virtually every activity in the game. However, if you want a farming method, the following video from Part Time Guardian recommends completing Legend Lost Sectors. These reward between 15 and 17 Essence of Dawn per run. You could do it alone, hoping to find something new and exotic, but running with a fire crew is much, much faster, as demonstrated in this video from Part Time Guardian.
- If you plan to do everything in The Dawning and aren’t sure where to start with the many recipes, we recommend just playing as you normally would and seeing what ingredients land in your lap. For example, completing bounties for other events, such as Gambit, will naturally require you to use a variety of items and weapons, and will naturally pit you against a variety of adversaries. Then you can sort out the things you need to get to complete the remaining Triumphs.
