Finding a shiny Croagunk, the Toxic Mouth Pokémon, is a giveaway for the next Featured Hour in Pokémon Go.
While Croagunk and his evolution Toxicroak are questionable in the Go Battle League mainstay, they are occasionally worth a look in the limited one-week objectives that come and go with the seasons. As for using Toxicroak in Pokémon Go raids, it’s not very good, so don’t bother. However, if you’re still missing a perfect shiny or 4* Pokémon, this is your chance to try to find one, while also grinding the Candy and Candy XL you’ll need to max out your Pokémon.

Croagunk IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Croagunk with perfect IV stats.

“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Croagunk based on CP alone.
If you’re at level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect 15/15/15 Croagunk:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Is Toxicroak good at PvP?
Unfortunately, not all Pokémon can be game-changers in Go Battle League, and not all Pokémon can be useful all the time. Unfortunately, Toxicroak fits into this group of occasionally useful Pokémon. The recent Halloween Cup and the upcoming Willpower Cup are two examples where it’s really worth considering, but outside of that, it’s not really an ideal option.

No matter your cup or league, this Pokémon performs Counter, Mud Bomb, and Sludge Bomb as its second charged move.
Counter is the best fast move in the game, which obviously makes this flexible and spammy Pokémon very useful. Sludge Bomb offers a decent STAB move that’s fairly cheap to execute, but it’s not as cheap as Mud Bomb. While Mud Bomb is technically Toxicroak’s weakest charged move, the fact that it’s a cheap Ground-type move (which many top-tier Pokémon are weak to, including other Poison-type Pokémon) is what really helps it. this movement shines.
Toxicroak’s problems are twofold: he’s doubly weak to psychic (and weak to ground and flying), and he has fairly low defense, which puts him firmly in the “glass cannon” bucket. As long as you know ‘Croak will be here for a good while, not a long time, you should be fine.
Looking at the meta itself, Toxicroak isn’t even one of the top 10 poisons or fighting types in the Big League. He loses quite a bit to Trevenant, Medicham, and even the fairy-type tank Azumarill, which is pretty tough to swallow. The flip side is that he beats Registeel, Bastiodon, and Galarian Stunfisk, which is pretty important.
As for the Ultra League, Toxicroak paints a similar picture: it beats a couple of Pokémon at the top of the meta, like Empoleon and Cresselia, but loses to five of the most common ones you’re likely to see: Obstagoon and Walrein, but loses. difficult for Giratina, Talonflame, Cresselia, Nidoqueen, and Swampert, all of which feature on our Ultra League recommendations list. Don’t run Toxicroak in this meta if you want to win.
As for the Master League, when your CP reaches a maximum of 2813, you are really not in a position to fulfill your duty.

Croagunk’s shiny form was released in April 2020. If you catch one, you can turn it into a shiny Toxicroak; however, you will need 50 Croagunk Candy to do so.
If luck is on your side, you may find a shiny Croagunk in the wild, but keep in mind that this is not a Community Day and shiny rates do not increase, so the chances of catching one, and much less a perfect one, they are very low. . That said, every Croagunk you see has the potential to be brilliant, so it’s purely a numbers game: play each and every one of them and see what you get. Good luck finding the Croagunk you need!

As you can see, the shiny Croagunk takes on a blue-green hue, and the orange details change to a pinkish color. Its evolution, Toxicroak, opts for a bluish green, with darker violet touches. All in all, a pretty nice pair of shinies!

Other tips for this hour of attention
Besides trying to catch a shiny Croagunk in Pokémon Go, there are a couple more good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:
- The best reason is, of course, the double catch XP bonus that runs throughout the hour. This applies to all captured Pokémon, so try your best to get good at excellent Curve Ball throws on a Croagunk to rack up XP quickly.
- If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Croagunk candy to fully evolve this Pokémon and enter all of its evolutions into the Pokédex.
- Thanks to Croagunk being a Poison and Fighting-type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your Poison and Fighting-type catch bonus medals.
