Hestu locations in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

You can find Hestu in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom much earlier than in Breath of the Wild and start expanding your inventory shortly after landing in Hyrule.

Hestu moves around a bit this time, although the basic method of expanding your inventory remains the same in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Be sure to save some Koroks on your journey so you have enough Korok seeds to give to Hestu.

Below, you’ll learn where to find Hestu in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom so you can expand your inventory.

Hestu’s location in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The first place you can find Hestu in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is in the Hyrule Ridge region, near Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower. The easiest way to get there is by launching from the Lookout Landing tower and gliding west. Be sure to bring an energizing elixir or resistance plate with you so you can glide longer and cover more ground.

Hestu is at the base of Lindor’s Brow, cowering near a cave. If you talk to him, he tells you the source of his fear: two seemingly normal trees a few meters away. Trees attack once you get close to them.

Use a sharp weapon (a sword or an axe, for example) to defeat them. It should only take about four hits, but be sure to dodge when you see the tree move back a bit. It will hit your trunk and cause heavy damage.

Tree monsters turn back into normal logs after you defeat them, so if you need additional wood packs, don’t forget to cut the logs before talking to Hestu again.

Hestu is overflowing with gratitude when he returns and offers to expand his inventory in exchange for Korok Seeds. Hestu says “bag” in the singular, but you can choose any of your three bags to upgrade.

Hestu does a little dance after you give him a seed and at the end you get an inventory slot. She remains in the same place until you give her a second Korok seed. After that, Hestu says that he will head east, where there are more people.

Where did Hestu go in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Almost everything in Hyrule is “east” of Hyrule Ridge, but you don’t have to travel far before encountering Hestu again. Return to Lookout Landing and you will find Hestu near the south gate of the settlement.

Hestu remains at Lookout Landing until you clear the Gloom from Korok Forest, so you can fast travel back to town as soon as he leaves. The process is more involved than simply following torches through the forest, and involves a journey into the Depths.

For specific instructions, check out our guide on how to get through the Lost Woods. Once the forest is habitable again, Hestu returns there and makes it her permanent home.

While you don’t have to send Hestu home, it’s well worth the effort. You must enter the Korok Forest to restore the Master Sword.
