Steps of the mission ‘Go Tour 2024 Road to Sinnoh’ in Pokémon Go

Go Tour 2024: Road to Sinnoh is the special research mission leading up to the global and Los Angeles version of the Go Tour: Sinnoh event in Pokémon Go. It will be unlocked automatically and free of charge for all players on Thursday, February 15 at 10 am (local time).

It’s also a branching quest: it asks you to choose between the Diamond and Pearl versions of the Go Tour: Sinnoh event. Your decision will not only decide some of the rewards you will receive from Go Tour 2024: Road to Sinnoh, but also a selection of bonuses that you can enjoy during the Go Tour: Sinnoh event itself. However, choose carefully, because you won’t be able to change your decision once it’s made.

Please note that you must complete this quest before the Go Tour: Sinnoh Global event on Saturday, February 24 to ensure you can properly enjoy it. If you attended the Go Tour event in Los Angeles, your choice between Diamond or Pearl will carry over to the global event.

Below you will find the first step of the mission Go Tour 2024: Road to Sinnoh, and then sections covering the challenges for the Diamond and Pearl versions of the mission. Beware of spoilers!

Dialga or Palkia: the best option for Go Tour 2024 Road to Sinnoh in Pokémon Go

When deciding between the Diamond and Pearl (Dialga or Palkia) version of the Go Tour 2024: Road to Sinnoh quest in Pokémon Go, we recommend considering which adventure effect you prefer.

Origin Forme Dialga’s adventure effect, Roar of Time, has the ability to pause the timer for incense, daily adventure incense, lucky eggs, and star pieces for six minutes. This can then be expanded further into two-hour deliveries if you’re willing to part with more Dialga Candy and Stardust. Thanks to this, Roar of Time is perfect for collecting additional XP, Stardust, or hunting for rare Pokémon.

Meanwhile, Origin Forme Palkia’s adventure effect, Spacial Rend, lets you enter Pokémon encounters at a distance greater than 10 minutes. As with Origin Forme Dialga’s adventure effect, this effect can be expanded by spending more Palkia Candy and Stardust. This adventure effect can be useful for rural players or people who don’t have much time to play Pokémon Go, as it increases the number of wild Pokémon you can find.

There are also three additional bonuses that your choice will unlock:

  • An encounter with Origin Forme Dialga or Palkia, who will learn their Adventure Effect move.
  • The adventure effect will last twice as long.
  • Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh Global Special Research will reward Dialga or Palkia Candy.
  • A Tour Diamond or Pearl Go: Sinnoh insignia.

Since the bonuses above will make it easier to obtain and use a specific adventure effect, it is best to choose based on which one you prefer. (Although you can always base your decision on which badge design you like best; I’m not your boss.)

Personally, I choose the Diamond version of this quest because I want to use Origin Forme Dialga’s Adventure Effect to increase the amount of time I have with Daily Adventure Incense. (It would be nice to finally catch one of those legendary Galarian birds…) The increased duration of the Lucky Egg won’t hurt either.

It’s important to note that if you attended the Go Tour: Sinnoh event in Los Angeles, your Diamond and Pearl choice will carry over to the global event. This means that if you chose Diamond for the Los Angeles event, you will not be able to switch to Pearl for the global event.

It’s the Season of Eternal Journeys in Pokémon Go, so be sure to complete the Eternal Journeys quest! The Carnival of Love event is currently taking place. During it, take time to try out Routes, Gift Exchange, and Party Play while you hunt for rare Pokémon, battle in Go Battle League, or compete in PokéStop Showcases.

How to get the Go Tour 2024 Road to Sinnoh mission in Pokémon Go

The Go Tour 2024: Road to Sinnoh mission is free for all Pokémon Go players, as the Go Tour: Sinnoh Global event is also free. The only part of the event you must purchase is the Masterwork Research quest for the shiny Shaymin, which will be available from Monday, February 19 to Sunday, February 25.

The mission should unlock automatically once 10am (local time) on Thursday, February 15 has passed. Note that I had to open and close Pokémon Go several times for this research to appear in my version of the game. If you are experiencing a similar issue and it has passed the time when the quest should be available in your region, I recommend that you do the same. This will cause Pokémon Go to update and eventually you should receive a notification about the start of the mission.

It’s also important to note that while Go Tour 2024: Road to Sinnoh is a special research mission, you’ll need to complete it by Saturday, February 24. (Or Saturday, February 17, if you attend the Los Angeles event.) This is because you must decide between the Diamond and Pearl version of the event before you can fully participate. Sure, you can complete this quest on the first morning of the event, but do you want to reduce the Pokémon catching time?

Whether you choose Diamond or Pearl, I hope you enjoy the Road to Sinnoh quest!
