The host country for this year’s Asia Cup was to be Pakistan. Due to rejection by the BCCI, BCB and SLCB related to security concerns, the venue of the matches remained an issue. Initially, PCB had proposed a hybrid model to organize the tournament. Due to this uncertainty, Sri Lanka was the leading candidate to host the Asian Cup.

Now, according to the latest notification issued by the ACC, the Asian Cup will be hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will host 4 matches and (matches will be played in Sri Lanka).

Asia Cup 2023 dates

The Asian Cup is held every two years and the 2023 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in September before the 2023 World Cup. After several discussions, the Asian Cricket Council has finally announced the dates for the 2023 Asian Cup. The tournament will take place from August. 31, and the final will be played on September 17.

The 15th edition of the tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates and was won by Sri Lanka who defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the final.

Implications for changes of venue.

Decisions made by the BCCI, BCB and SLCB may have serious implications for cricketing relations between the three boards. After the BCCI refused to send players to Pakistan, the PCB chief reacted strongly stating, “Having chaired the ACC meeting during which Pakistan received the ACC Asia Cup with overwhelming support and response of the ACC board members, Mr. Shah’s statement to switch from the ACC Asia Cup has been made unilaterally. This is contrary to the philosophy and spirit by which the Asian Cricket Council was formed in September 1983: a united Asian cricket body to safeguard the interests of its members and to organize, develop and promote the game of cricket in Asia.” .

Thank you @JayShah for presenting unilaterally @ACCMedia1 Structure and calendars 2023-24, especially related to the Asia Cup 2023, of which 🇵🇰 is the host of the event. While you’re at it, you can also introduce the structure and schedule of our 2023 PSL! A quick response will be appreciated.
